Metamorphosis CD review
This is the fourth CD by Yumi Kurosawa, a koto player currently living in New York City. The composition is based on a trio of percussion, violin and koto with saxophone, Latin percussion, and other instruments added to create a free-flowing mix of diverse musical genres. These recorded works have a realistic and natural appeal. Some of these expressions are in the lineage of Minoru Miki and Takashi Yoshimatsu, and the compositions flow well with melodic material originating from Asia and Eurasia. It is also worthy mentioning that her excellent performance skills bring out the beauty of the sound of the 20-string koto.
